In addition to the persecution and mass murder of European Jews, the Nazis targeted other groups they considered to be racially and biologically inferior including: Roma (Gypsies), people with disabilities, Poles, Russians, Soviet prisoners of war and blacks. Additional groups were persecuted on political, ideological and behavioral grounds, among them communists, socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses and lesbians and gays.
